Playground Americas, a trendy digital publisher that targets woke young adults, was going through internal changes. Their sales team, that that was used to selling the cool Playground brand, was now being asked to sell new acquired brands that were, lets say, not as cool. And all in the middle of a global pandemic. There was lots of tension.
The GM planned to do an offsite, and asked for my help in creating the right atmosphere to be able to get through to the team. Together we decided to open the event with a video that addressed the challenges head on. There would be no sugar coting, but there would lots of cat memes, and, hopefully, this defense-minimizing approach would enable a relaxed and productive conversation.
